    Breed evolved in the 1960’s in the United States after a litter of Siamese kittens was born with white feet and a pointed pattern

    Breed was refined in the 1970’s with accidental mating of a Siamese and a American Bicoloured Domestic Shorthair

    The name Snowshoe was given because of their white feet giving the appearance of mittens on their front paws and booties on the back

  • Caring for your cat

    Its smooth coat requires little maintenance to keep it looking great

    This breed has no inherited diseases and no special dietary requirements

    When you’re out keep your Snowshoe busy with toys or provide them with the comfort of human voices by a radio show or TV show turned down low

    They are lively but have their moments when they are happy to curl up in your lap and go to sleep

  • Physical Traits

    Sapphire blue eyes, short sleek fur and distinctive markings

    Has a larger head than the modern Siamese and a muscular body type

    Have colour points with mostly white toes and sometimes white facial markings

    The more common are seal points, chocolate points, blue points and lynx (tabby)

    Most sought after fur and colour pattern is the white mitten and an inverted “v” on their faces. The mitted pattern the absence of the “v” with a splash of colour on the face is also popular as no two are the same
